Scope

The scope of the project is create more efficient, effective, secure health data sharing; large-scale health information processing; better and more effective communications; and seamlessly coordinated health knowledge management, data mining, and evidence-based health decision making demands a concerted effort to harness the power of e-technologies in the service of health care.

We have identified the following major components under this e-Health project.

  • HRMS (Human Resources Management System)
This module focuses on managing the high level executive person in the health sector.

  • IMS (Incident Management System)
Tracking the patient related incidents and epidemic based incidents.

  • LGS (Logistics)
Logistics is the management of the flow of goods, information and other resources in health sector.

  • Administrator module
All of the administrator tasks will be handled by using this module.

  • HMIS (Health Management Information Systems)
This module contains e-Health records, GIS, Lab information, e-medicine (telemedicine) etc.

Project Objectives

The major objective of this project is creating a system to achieve better health and well-being for the general public through the application of e-technologies. E-Health will help to improve and enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the health sector by making products and services more available, accessible, affordable, and accountable. While going to achieve this target we will be completing following goals.

  • Availability and accessibility of health care knowledge and expertise, especially for the underserved and underinsured
  • Availability and accessibility of quality health care on a more equitable basis to underserved rural and urban areas
  • Comprehensive availability of e-clinical services, regardless of time, specialty, and geographical location
  • Availability of e-health services for new and alternative medical procedures
  • Savings for e-providers and e-patients in procedural, travel, and claims processing costs
  • Educational service networks for isolated health professionals, residents, and non-experts
  • Reduced use of traditional emergency services
  • Improved non-emergency services
  • Decreased waiting time for non-emergency services
  • Greater awareness of services among rural and remote residents and caregivers
  • Availability and timely accessibility of critical information in the event of emergencies

Problem Description

The major issues that are available in the current system are acquiring appropriate information when required because of decentralized data in the current health care system. Current system not support gathering information and managing them.

There is no existing system for Incident management although it is a critical requirement country like Sri Lanka. Through this project public can access for required vital medical information which are diversified in health sector.

There is not available for managing Human Resource in health system. But having system may increase the efficiency of entire health sector and it will help management of health sector to make decision upon required time. Recognise the patient at emergency situation is very important regardless of the state of the patient. Even thought it is very important such a system does not exist present. By keeping system like this it will also help for acquire patient information in emergency situation. Also this system will assist to keep track of patient’s history regarding health.

Drug stock management plays a vital role in health sector because managing drug stock properly will assist nation’s health facilities so it is a prominent requirement to have a drug stock management system all over the country. Medical resources management is another requirement that should be automated this will increase the logistic efficiency.

Introduction to e-Health project

Most of the sectors in Sri Lanka are becoming automated using Information and Communication technologies. Although health sector is one of most prominent sector in Sri Lanka, it is not yet exposed to e-world. The purpose of this project brings the health section to e-world. e-Health is a distributed system which will converge all the health related units which are divergent in various sectors and manage all the information system of health care. Also it cooperates with health care providers and with other institutions involved in health care provision.
In contrast to traditional health care systems, e-health will be developed to become a niche industry with the potential of providing, in one way or another, greater access to a growing range of health care products and services according to the global standard.
